Penny Sue Mccarty

d. April 8, 2012

Bridgeport ~ Penny Sue Crawford McCarty, 51, was welcomed by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on East Sunday, April 8, 2012 in Montague County.

Memorial service will be held at a later date at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Penny was born on May 8, 1960 to Mervin "Smiley" Crawford and the late Helen (Shaver) Montgomery in Dallas, Texas. She attended schools in Pilot Point and Henrietta. Penny was united in marriage to her best friend and love of her life, Kenneth Calvin McCarty Jr. on November 7, 1982. She worked for several years in the restaurant industry, once serving as assistant manager simultaneously for two restaurants in Wichita Falls. Penny's greatest accomplishments and joy came in her "work" as a homemaker, being a loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. She was adored by her husband, children, grandchildren, and extended family. Her laughter, smile, and love will be missed but will also forever be seen in the lives of those she touched.

Penny loved her Lord and was a living example of the love of Christ and was a member of Balsora Baptist Church in Bridgeport. She truly understood what it was to live for Christ and take up the cross as she continually put her wants and needs aside to love and care for others. Penny has been a "mom" and "granny" to many young people through the years. She was rarely seen without a smile and was beloved by many.

Penny was preceded in death by her mother and her brother, Scotty Crawford.

Penny is survived by her husband of 29 years, Calvin McCarty Jr. of Bridgeport; her son, T.J. McCarty of Bridgeport; her daughters, Wendy Williams of Bridgeport, Brandy Davis and husband Jason of Runaway Bay; her grandchildren, Triston, Helen, Kynley, Tanner, and Garrett; her sisters, Cindy Moses and husband Jimmy, Kitty Schindler and husband Gary, and Amy Crawford, all of Henrietta; her father and stepmother, Mervin and Myrt Crawford of Buffalo Springs; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Francis McCarty of Fort Worth; brothers-in-law, Dudley McCarty of Fort Worth, Scott McCarty and wife Laura of Ponder; step-brothers, Robert Montgomery and wife Renee' of Archer City, Eddie Montgomery and wife Robin of Megargel, Brad Fudge and wife Becky of Jacksboro, Vaughn Fudge and wife Aprille of Jacksboro; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of friends.
