Peter C. Verhaagen

Family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. Saturday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held at a later date.

Peter was born July 8, 1948 in Dordrecht, Holland to Cornelius and Theresa Vermeulem Verhaagen. He married Elaine Enlow on May 5, 1987 in Aiken, South Carolina. Peter served in the United States Navy during Vietnam. He and Elaine own and operate Design Concepts Unlimited, Inc. in Decatur.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 23 years, Elaine Verhaagen of Alvord; two daughters, Helena Marie Cox and husband, Nathan of Ozark, Missouri, Emily Johanna Dignan and husband, Darren of Berryville, Arkansas; two stepsons, Shawn Andrew Swilley of Shreveport, Christopher Allen Swilley and wife, Delia of Fort Worth; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; brother, Hans Verhaagen of Arizona; sister, Helen Boehm of California; nieces, nephews and a host of friends; and close friends Tom and Barbara Keller.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Peter C. Verhaagen, II.

Please let the family know how much I cared for this rascal. Even after I sold him his Jeep, he would come back to the dealership where I worked than a few years ago, and chat about Bikes, Cars, and jeeps. Outside of Guns, I believe those might have been his favorite topics. God Bless the Verhaagen Family, and may the peace of God rest upon them all..Amen
