Rachel Coan

May 1, 1971 — January 27, 2025

May 1st, 1971 near Bogotá, Columbia, the world was blessed with the arrival of Rachel who spent her early years in an orphanage before she was adopted by Ronny and Billie Rawle from Decatur, Texas. She was raised in Decatur with her parents and brothers Tom and Craig. After graduating from Castleberry Christian School in 1989, Rachel married and had daughter Caitlin in 1992 and son Caleb in 1995. As her children grew, she devoted her time to being a loving mother. Rachel also worked as a caregiver for many families providing exceptional care and support for elderly people in need. Her children grew up and in 2017 Rachel met the love of her life, Christopher (Chris) Coan, whom she married in 2018.

Rachel had a love for life and found joy in even the smallest of things. She enjoyed spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren any chance she could. She also loved shopping, traveling for vacations, and enjoying nature. In everything she did she put her love of God first and her faith guided her throughout her life. She and her husband found their church home with New Roads Fellowship Church and were chose friends with many of the members.

Rachel was described by family and friends throughout her life as having a heart of gold. Everyone would say she was bubbly, fun, giving, and kind-hearted. You would often hear that “she lights up the room when she walk in” and that couldn’t have been more true. She brought light, laughter, and love with her everywhere she went and to everyone she came across. Even while battling cancer she continued to live life to the fullest, stayed strong, and was still so loving and an inspiration to everyone around her.

Rachel was preceded in death by her father Ronny Rawle, grandparents WD and Oma Jewel Rawle, Bill and Hazel Grundy, first husband Stephen McGaha, and close family members, Raymond McGaha and Trudy Gilbreath.

Rachel is survived by her husband Chris Coan, her daughter Caitlin and husband Michael Gilbertson and their two children Daphne and Michael “Puddle” Gilbertson, her son Caleb McGaha and wife Lexi McGaha and their two children Landon and Ellie McGaha , her mother Billie Rawle, brothers Tom Rawle and fiancée Abby, Craig Rawle and wife Judy.

January 27, 2025, Rachel passed away surrounded by family into the arms of Jesus.
