Ralph Oliver "Rick" Jaynes, Jr.

Decatur ~ Ralph “Rick” Jaynes, Jr., 76, went to be with our Lord Sunday, May 21, 2023.

Memorial Service is 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2023 at Flatwood Baptist Church.

Doug Acklie will officiate.

Rick was born July 20, 1946 to Ralph Oliver and Cleta (Ervin) Jaynes in Nashville, Tennessee. He was united in marriage September 11, 1991 to Connie Prater in Keller, Texas. Rick was a Farrier most of his life and loved shoeing horses. When Rick retired from shoeing, he enjoyed owning and running Lonesome Dove Feed Store for 14 years. He proudly served our country in the United States Army, serving in the National Guard from 1966 to 1971. He also worked at Nashville Fire Department from 1970 to 1977. Rick was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Cleta Jaynes; step-daughter, Christi Ball; a brother, Al Jaynes; and sister, Pat McQuig.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of over 31 years, Connie Jaynes of Decatur; his sons, Richie Jaynes and wife Cindy of Austin, and Travis Jaynes of Centerville, Tennessee; his step-daughter, Tiffany Crane and husband, Steven of Decatur; granddaughters, Whitney McFarland and husband M.J. and Kilee Jaynes; great-granddaughters, Reign McFarland and Kru Haven McFarland; his sisters, Evelyn Keeling and Cathy Hester; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
