Randall (Randy) Wayne Niblett, 66, of Boyd, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on April 30, 2024.
Memorial Service is 2:00 PM at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.
Randy was born on September 15, 1957 to Laura Jo Deaver and Alvin Niblett in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was their second son. Randy had an older brother named Richard and a little sister named Sandy. Randy and Sandy were inseparable! They did everything together. When he was 19 years old, his half -sister, Robyn was born. Then in 1981, his youngest half -sister, Ashley, was born when he was 24 years old. Randy graduated from LD Bell High School in Hurst, TX in May of 1975, and then enlisted in the United States Navy on December 11, 1975 at the age of 18. While he was in the Navy, he was assigned to the USS Sea Devil submarine where he was an interior communications electrician for four years. While on the submarine, he traveled the world and got to experience many wonderful things. He loved to tell stories about his time in the Navy. He then served in the Naval Reserves until June 5,1981. Randy began working for a security company, National Guardian, in 1979 as a security alarm technician. Later the company was bought out by Johnson Controls and he retired after 44 years. He was a hard worker and did everything he could to provide for his family. On November 12,1982 he married Kara Armstrong of Hurst, TX and they had two children during their marriage, Kila and Randall (Reece). After 5 years of marriage, they divorced in November of 1988. Ten years later, in the summer of 1998, Randy met the love of his life. The day they met they stayed up talking all night on the front porch and he kissed her before he left. He knew she was the one! Two weeks later they moved in together, and then on March 17, 1999, Randy married Barbara (Bobbi) Morrison of Fort Worth, TX and they spent the rest of his life together. They traveled, raised their children, and made many memories. Later, they purchased and moved to the family land in Keeter, Texas. Bobbi was his absolute best friend and she took great care of him while he was sick. He loved spending time with his children, Kila, Reece, Corey, and Chris. He was the absolute best dad! You could always count on him to have your back, no matter what. Anytime we needed advice, he would tell us exactly what he thought. Randy loved to teach us about life and when he said, “I want to show you something…” you knew you were about to get a valuable life lesson. He always told us that he loved us and how proud he was. In 2002 he became a grandfather when his first grandson, John, was born. He was over the moon. Later he would have 4 more grandsons and one granddaughter. Kira was his princess- the only girl. He loved to swim with them and teach them how to garden. In 2017, he was diagnosed with Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) which is a type of blood cancer. Then in 2021 he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He never once complained and did everything he could to fight. He was a warrior. Anytime you asked him how he was, he would reply, “Better than I deserve.” He loved making people smile and one of the ways he did that was with his awesome “dad jokes.” He also did the best Donald Duck impersonation you’ve ever heard. It was sure to put a smile on your face. He always said that a life without a sense of humor isn’t a life worth living. You have to stay positive and he was until the day he died.
Randy went by many names: Randy, Randall Wayne, Dad, Dada, Daddy, Honey, son, brother, and Grandad. He loved being a husband, dad, brother, and granddad. Randy loved to fish, boat, camp, and garden. Nature was his playground. He grew the best okra, corn, tomatoes, and cantaloupe that you’ve ever tasted! He was the best whistler and could whistle any tune or copy any bird song. The mockingbirds loved him! He was also a self - taught fiddler. Randy enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys, The Dallas Stars, his pool, smoking meat and BBQing, watching The Rifleman, trips to the lake, mountain vacations, sunsets, playing with his two cats, Daisy and Kitty, but most of all, his time with family. He fought his cancer not just for himself, but for more time with his family. He often said, “I have so much to live for.”
Randy was predeceased by his mother, Laura Jo, and his sister, Sandy Niblett.
