DECATUR -- Ray Hudson, 79, a retired truck driver went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 in Decatur.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Chapel with burial in Sweetwater Cemetery. Family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Brothers Louis Horton and Charles Taylor will officiate. Pallbearers include Jimmy Hudson, Gary Hudson, Dennis Hudson, Bubba Hudson, Britt Burns and Dale Watts.
Charles Ray Hudson was born on August 9, 1929, the son of Tillie Ford and Pearl Katherine (Bridges) Hudson, in Decatur. He married Glen Ellen Sechrist on November 8, 1966 in Alvord. Ray was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a long time member of the Wise County Sherriff's Posse and President of the Sweetwater Cemetery Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tillie and Pearl Hudson; his sisters, Lois Read and Betty Hogue; and his brother, R.C. "Son" Hudson.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are: his wife, Ellen Hudson of Decatur; daughters: Karen Dawson and husband Cecil of Decatur, Laurie Pippin and husband Tim of Decatur, Rae Ella Tambunga and husband Paul of Rhome, Lacie West and husband Matt of Rhome; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Claude Hudson of Fort Worth, Mike Hudson of Decatur; and sister, Evelyn Dawson of Chico.
