Decatur: Ray Kesey, 81, a retired farmer/rancher went to be with our Lord on Sunday, August 9, 2009 in Decatur.

Funeral service is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Decatur with Reverend Ken May officiating. Interment will follow service at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are A.C. Griffin, Dr. W.M. Lewis, Harold Mosley, James Stutt, Charles Ruis, Edwin Haney, Loyd Jackson and Bill Askey.

Honorary pallbearers are Sam Blackwell, J. H. Carr, Carl Flippin, J. L. Heasteande, Jim Keen, Barney Loudermilk, Gordon Lovell, Kenneth McKay, Ray Tindol, Stephen Wren, and Clyde Wright.

Ray was born on February 24, 1928 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Moffett Venus and Ruby Viola (Goins) Kesey. He married Mary Inez Dow on December 24, 1947 at Littlefield, Texas and was married 45 years at her death on July 16, 1992. Ray was a member of the Southwest Cattle Raisers Association and a longtime deacon at the First Baptist Church of Pecos.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Cynthia Alexander and husband, Wayne of Decatur, Connie Coats and husband, Bill of Fort Worth; six grandchildren, Leslie Coats, Kyle Coats, Brady Coats, Dan Alexander and wife, Lisa, Steve Alexander, Diana Jackson and husband, Craig; sisters, Ruth Mitchell of San Angelo and LaVell Cowan of Spade, Texas.
