Funeral: 2 PM Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home. Burial: Pleasant Grove Cemetery #3. Family will receive friends 6-8 PM Wednesday. The Reverend Melvin Gipson will officiate, assisted by Reverend Dwayne Lamberson. Pallbearers: Tim Speck, Peter Baum, Ronnie Koehler, Mark Hazelhurst, Jerry Cooper, Mike Lane, Randall Carr, and Robert Emory.
Ray was born on June 8, 1941 to Alton "Hoot" and Frances Kuykendall Morales in Fort Worth. He grew up and went to high school in Handley, Texas. After high school he served in the U.S. Navy. December 19, 1959 he married his childhood sweetheart, Ruby Gipson in Fort Worth where they began their life together and started a family. They moved to Chico in 1976.
His passion of farming was a family tradition. He grew hundreds of acres of watermelons, cantaloupes and pumpkins in the Wichita Falls area as a hobby. He was the owner of several Metal Recycling companies. Ray was a friend to everyone he met and had a generous heart. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Left behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 48 years, Ruby Morales; his loving companion, Precious (his dog); daughter, Brenda Mowery and husband Walt of Chico; sons, Doug Morales and wife Sandra of Bridgeport, Calvin Morales and wife Donna of Chico, David Morales and partner Kevin Beard of Dallas, Rick Morales and wife Stacey of Bridgeport; sisters, LaNell Langley, Martha Jackson, Ann Hansen, Katherine Brooks, and Pam Fuller; grandchildren, Crystal KcKelvain, Derrick Mowery, Crystal Rodriguez, Natalie Vidal, Justin Morales, Mathew Morales, Calvin Morales, Jr., Jonathan Morales and Lauren Morales; 7 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
