Decatur: Ray Tindol, 85, a retired teacher and rancher, went to be with our Lord, Thursday, August 18, 2011 in Decatur.

Graveside service is 10 a.m. Saturday, August 20th at Oaklawn Cemetery with Reverend Ken May officiating. Family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Friday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Ray was born September 19, 1925 in Cadiz, Texas to Daniel and Annie Mae (Ray) Tindol. He graduated from and received his Bachelor's and Master's degree from Howard Payne University. He married Eva Ray Hawkins on June 17, 1972 in Decatur, Texas.

Ray served in the United States Navy during World War II. Upon his return from the service, Ray began his teaching career, teaching math and science, at Three Rivers, Pleasanton, Beeville, Callallen, Mathis, Tilden and Decatur. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Decatur.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 39 years, Eva Ray Tindol; daughter, Sandy Tindol both of Decatur; and brother, Dan Tindol of Brownwood.

Ray is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Neville Tindol and sister, Myrna Paradis.
