Memorial service is 2 p.m. Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the Bowie Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness Church with Brothers Donald Bishop officiating.
Rayford was born on December 22, 1934 in Soperton, Georgia to Collie W. and Ollie Mae (Alexander) Phillips. He was united in marriage to Rossilyn Bellah on September 8, 1959 in Hazelhurst, Georgia.
Rayford received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Georgia. He served in the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return from Korea, Rayford worked for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. He moved to Saint Jo and worked for Forestburg ISD as a custodian and bus driver and retired in 1985 after 15 years of service.
Left behind to cherish his memory are wife of 54 years, Rossilyn Phillips of Bowie; daughter, Leanna Ivey and husband Tom of Bowie; 2 sons, Robert Phillips and wife Ruth of Wichita Falls and Roger Phillips and wife Kathy of Bowie; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren; other family members and a host of friends.
Rayford is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Annie Sue Profitt.
