Paradise ~ Raymond Lee Meadows, 78, a retired heavy equipment operator, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, April 12, 2016 in Decatur.
Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Springtown Church of Christ in Springtown with burial in Cottondale Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
David Bennett and David Pearson IV will officiate. Pallbearers include Todd Meadows, Dike Read, Tony Pearson, Terry Ferris, Roy Jones, and Kenneth Cook.
Raymond was born on December 23, 1937 to Henry and Tommie (Stevens) Meadows in Paradise, Texas. He was united in marriage to Ruth Sutherland on February 7, 1959 in Hurst. He worked for TXI as a front end loader operator until he retired. Raymond volunteered as an auctioneer for Paradise Project Show, Cottondale Fire Department, FFA, Chamber of Commerce, and the Historical Society. He was a member of the Springtown Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth Elizabeth Meadows; his brothers, Henry Wayne Meadows and Johnnie William Meadows.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his son, Ronnie Meadows and wife Dianne of Paradise; his grandson, Wesley Meadows (U.S. Army) of Paradise; his granddaughter, Kelby Meadows of Paradise; his brother, Waymond Meadows and wife Lucille of Paradise; his sisters, Ethel Ruth Adams of Paradise, Helen LaRue Glazener of Lewisville; numerous nieces nephews cousins, other family members and a host of friends.
Raymond loved kids and would be pleased to know kids were able to attend church camp. Donations to your favorite church youth group in memory of Raymond would be an honor to him.
