NORTH RICHLAND HILLS ~ Our beloved Papa, Raymond John Yoder, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 2, 2012. He was the youngest of 10 Amish Mennonite children born to Eli S. Yoder and Esther Helena Brenneman.
He was born near Kalona,Iowa,on Jan. 26, 1929. In his early years he served proudly in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic and it was during that time that he met and married Jo Ann Rickman. They were married 45 years and she preceded him in death on Aug. 23, 1996. The Lord gave them two children, his son, Phillip Wayne Yoder and wife Paula of Denton and his daughter, Laurie Ann Yoder of Arlington.
In 1997 Papa married Donis Hefner and they were married 15 years until his death Monday. With his marriage to Donis, he inherited a stepson, Ken Hefner, and his wife, Tina, of North Richland Hills; grandchildren, Alisha and Cassie; and a great-grandchild, Kaden.
His brothers Ivan, Lyle, Marvin, Wilbur, Duane, Calvin; and sisters, Eva and Verna, preceded him in death. He has one surviving sister, Luella Yoder of Kalona, Iowa.
Papa worked at Texas Instruments initially as a sheet metal worker, then as a supervisor for 27 years until his retirement in 1987. Always a farmer at heart, after retirement he enjoyed working on his farm in Boyd and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church while living in Boyd. In the last few years of his life he and Donis had retired from the Boyd farm and lived in North Richland Hills.
Memorial service is 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 6 at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Boyd.
