Raymond Jay Suter

Raymond 'Jay' Suter, 87, of Runaway Bay, Texas passed away February 1, 2021. Jay was born January 16, 1934 in Waukegan, Illinois to Raymond J. Suter, DVM and Elizabeth Virginia (Smith )Suter. He graduated from Waukegan High School, attended the University of St Thomas in St Paul, MN and graduated from Bradley Univ following 2 terms of service in the US Army.

An economics major, Jay began his corporate career in sales quickly and steadily rising to local, regional and national positions in sales, training and management including serving as owner and President. His chosen field was in human and pet food for such companies as International Paper, Strongheart Dog Food, Allied Foods, Swift Premiun, Williams Foods and Evenger's.

An avid golfer, Jay had several holes in one, was named Missouri seniors champion and enjoyed playing at various courses in the US, UK and Europe.

Civic participation included dedicated service to the catholic parishes in which he was a member; a 4th degree Knight Of Columbus, VFW, Wise County Historical Society, as well as serving as a Eucharistic minister  serving communion to the ill and elderly and transporting cancer patients to treatment.

An engaging storyteller, a good dancer, animal lover, loyal patriot, sports fan, friend, father, grandfather, uncle and husband he treated people kindly and with respect.

Jay was preceded in death by his sister Betty Jane Baker. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Phyllis Alexander Suter of the home, their 4 children Michelle Suter of Overland Park, KS, Mara Suter of Tuscaloosa, AL, Michael Suter of Lenexa, KS and Mary Beth Romolo ( Christopher) of Northlake, Tx , 4 grandchildren Hunter Wills (Murphy), Zachary Wills, Emily Romolo and C. Ryan Romolo and numerous grand-dogs.

He leaves a legacy of love of family and country, diligence, strength, compassion for others, personal conviction and selfless service. Welcoming, friendly and endlessly entertaining, he was loved and will be missed.

Memorial Service to be held Sunday February 7, 2021 at 2:30 pm at The Bay Church, 20 Runaway Bay Dr., Runaway Bay, Texas.
