RHOME -- Rev. William Matthew Greer, Jr., 77, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009 in Rhome.
Funeral Service: 10:30 AM Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Hawkins Funeral Chapel. Graveside Service: 2 PM at D/FW National Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
He was born on July 27, 1932, the son of William Matthew, Sr. and Mary Etta (Wilburn) Greer, in Commerce, Texas.
Rev. Greer was an Associate pastor for the Living Word Tabernacle. He served his country in and retired from the U.S. Army. He was a household inspector for Wise Regional Hospital. Rev. Greer married Linda Kay Wooderts on September 6, 2001 in Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Mario Greer.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are: his wife, Linda Greer of Rhome; his six sons, William Darnell Greer of Temple, Tony Greer of Dallas, Warren Greer of Dallas, Weldon M. Greer of Dallas, Marcus Davis of Dallas, Louis Wooderts and wife Kim of Kyle; his four daughters, Veronica Thomas and husband Jimmy of Red Oak, Vanessa Jordan and husband Charles of De Soto, Vernetta Hearn and husband Harlan of De Soto, Rhonda Sterling of Austin; 16 grandchildfen; 14 great grandchildren; brothers, Weldon (Bud) Greer and wife Florene of Dallas, Marion Greer and wife Velma of Commerce.
