Richard Kiehl Bastian

Richard Kiehl Bastian, 90, of Decatur went to be with his Lord Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

Private burial followed by Celebration of Life Service at 2 PM, Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home Decatur. Visitation 1 hour prior at the funeral home.

Richard was born January 2, 1935 to Fred J. and Jessie Era (Price) Bastian in Decatur, Texas. He proudly served our country in the United States Army, enlisting in 1954, serving until 1956 as a Corporal. Richard was united in marriage in March of 1956 to Joy Harlan in Bridgeport, Texas. He graduated from UNT formerly NTSU, working in Dallas at Enserch Corporation as the Director of Claims, retiring after 37 years. Richard was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many who will dearly miss him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Jessie Bastian, his step-father, RB Harrell, and brother, Gerald Bastian.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Joy Bastian of Decatur; his sons, Bob Bastian and wife Carolyn, and Jimmy Bastian of Decatur; grandsons, William Bastian and wife Bonnie, Andrew Bastian, Blake Bastian, and Dylan Bastian; great-granddaughter, Harlin Bastian; extended family and a host of friends.
