Decatur ~ Ricky Wayne Johnson, aka “Black John Wayne” 59, went to be with our Lord Thursday, July 1, 2021.
Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pastor Darren Embree will offficiate. Pallbearers include Glenn Putnam, Stephen Tupica, Gralin Hollie, Larry Hickey, Ray Russell, and Jonathan Bible. Honorary pallbearers include, Delane Bible, Raymond Wood, and David King.
Ricky was born December 28, 1961 to Jimmie Neff and Laura Faye (Singleton) Johnson in Decatur. He was in petroleum production in the oilfield industry. Ricky was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie and Laura Johnson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Laura Johnson of Decatur; his sons, Stephen Tupica of Azle, and Sean Minor of Decatur; 1 daughter, Crystal Newby of Abilene; 3 step-children, Glenn Putnam, Jeffrey Keller, and Corey Chabert all of Decatur; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 2 brothers, Jimmy Johnson of Denton and Robert Johnson of Decatur; 5 sisters, Glenda Johnson of Little Elm, Lavern Johnson of Decatur, Lawanda Johnson of Decatur, Ima Johnson of Decatur, and Ann Ransom of Boyd; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and a host of friends.
