Ricky Fritz Woods

Ricky Fritz Woods, 65, passed away on January 11, 2021.   He is leaving behind a hell of a lot of stuff to his wife and children who have no idea what to do with it. So, if you’re looking for car parts, golf clubs, guns, or 1,000 tools that we aren’t sure what they’re used for you should wait the appropriate amount of time to get in touch.

This is not an ad for his pawn shop but an obituary for a great Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend born on December 20, 1955 in Decatur, Texas, the son of Bunita and Mitchell Woods. He leaves behind a very dysfunctional family that he was very proud of.

Rick’s mechanical genius and general resourcefulness helped him succeed in jobs such as paint and body specialist, race car driver, insurance adjuster, salesman, and landlord, all of which helped him in his last and final career as a successful Pawn Broker.

Rick was renowned for his lack of patience, not holding back his opinion and had a knack for telling it like it is. He always told you the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. With that said he was genuine to a fault, a teddy-bear at heart and yet he sugar coated nothing. His extensive vocabulary was more than highly proficient at knowing more curse words than most people learned in a lifetime. Rick had a huge heart and loved being able to help others.

Rick will be sorely missed and survived by his wife of 23 years Cindy Woods, eldest daughter Courtney Kling and husband Dusty Kling, youngest daughter Danielle Foster and fiancé Evan Piccione, grandchildren Tatum, Austin and Camden. All whom loved him dearly and will never forget his tenacity, wit and charm. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerald “Radar” Woods.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, at the Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd, Texas with burial to follow in the Boyd Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, January 15, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Fred Raney will be officiating.
