Robert was born on January 22, 1931 to Albert and Marie (Olson) Hammer in Lead, South Dakota. He was united in marriage to Willie Derryberry on December 18, 1951 in Dover, Arkansas. Robert retired from Aviation Aerospace Manufacturer. He was an avid fly fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 66 years, Willie Hammer of Bowie; his son, Gary Hammer and wife Jennifer of Bowie, his daughter, Kay Link and husband Steve of Roanoke; 3 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; his sister, Bonnie Glover of South Dakota; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
