Robert E. Owensby

Paradise ~ Robert E. Owensby, 86, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, February 5, 2025 in Decatur.

Funeral service is 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 10th, at First Baptist Church in Springtown. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.  Graveside service is 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 18th, at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. 

Robert was born on December 16, 1938 to Robert Earl and Julia Belle (Culbreath) Owensby in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He was united in marriage to Connie Gaither on June 1, 1963 in Fort Worth, they were together for 61 beautiful years. Robert completed his Bachelor’s degree at Criswell Bible College, a significant achievement, and he embraced his calling by becoming a minister, dedicated to serving others as well as the community of First Baptist Church in Paradise for over 10 years. He dedicated himself to serving our country honorably for 24 years as an officer in the United States Coast Guard. Robert was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to many that will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Julia Owensby; 2 brothers; and a sister. 

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Connie Owensby; his children, Robert Brian Owensby and wife Audra, Kevin Scott Owensby and wife Rhonda, Carrie Owensby and husband Eddie, and Robert Lee Owensby and wife Alexandria; his grandchildren, Julia, Mark, Emily Beaudette and husband Chris, Hayden, Ryanne, Catie, Jensyn, Lily, Kaylei, Kooper, and Korbin; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
