Aurora: Robert V. "Bob" Pitts, Sr., 92, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, April 7, 2010, in Decatur, Texas. Graveside service is 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Cemetery No. 1, in Decatur with Reverend Jimmy Withers officiating. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Bob was born February 14, 1918 in Decatur, Texas to Charlie Lee and Matilda Jane Evans Pitts. He married Dorothy Mae Miller on February 19, 1946 in Decatur. He was a World War II Veteran and retired from Convair, now known as Lockhead Martin Corporation in Fort Worth. Left behind to cherish his memory are two daughters, Pamela Rhodes of Fort Worth, and Brenda Taylor and husband Terry of Fort Worth; two sons, Bobby Leroy Pitts and wife Sue of Middlesboro, Kentucky, and Robert Pitts, Jr., of Aurora; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae Pitts; 1 son, William S. Pitts; daughter, Deanna Pitts; 5 brothers, Roy, Loyd, James, William, and Dee Pitts; 2 sisters, Nellie Potter and Sue Wheeler.
