Roger Edward Zemmin

Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 2nd at the First United Methodist Church of Decatur with Rev. Johnny Irish and Dr. Shelly Brooks officiating. Interment: Oaklawn Cemtery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include Foster Walker, Thomas Kemp, Don McDonald, Jerry Watson, George Yuga and Bob Holden.

Roger was born July 23, 1936 in Gonzales, Texas to Edward Henry and Doris Francis (Braley) Zemmin. He was united in marriage to Suzanne Rann Zemmin in 1978 in Decatur, Texas, and was married 15 years at her death in 1993. Roger was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Maurine Rann and father-in-law, G. C. Rann.

Roger served in the Naval Reserve from 1954 to 1959 as a Radarman 3rd Class. Roger graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School and received a Bachelors Degree from the University of Texas. In 1982, he received his Masters at Texas Womens University. Roger taught for Decatur ISD for 10 years as a science teacher for the 7th and 8th grades.

Roger a longtime member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association; a member of the Decatur Lions Club since 1979 where he served as Vice President for several years.

Left behind to cherish his memory are two sons, Craig Zemmin and wife Kristin of Grapevine, Michael Zemmin of Decatur; two granddaughters, Rachael and Anna Zemmin; sister, Francis Jeanette Gesheidle of Cedar Park; two nieces, Lisa Holden of Cedar Park and Lori Yuga of Austin; two cousins, Marlene Wooten of Austin and David Braley of Lockhart, Texas.
