Ronald Jay Zimmerman

Decatur ~ Ronald Jay Zimmerman, 76, went to be with our Lord Sunday, November 5, 2023.

Memorial Service is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur.

Ronald was born August 12, 1947 to Yvonne Crowder in Lincoln, Nebraska. He was united in marriage February 3, 1967 to Rebecca Wright in Lincoln, Nebraska. Ronald was a graduate of Lincoln High School. He retired from Burlington Northern and Sante Fe Railway after many years as an Assistant Vice President of Operations. Ronald was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Yvonne Crowder; his brother, Robert "Bub" Offenbacker.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of over 56 years, Rebecca Zimmerman of Decatur; his son, Bret Jay “Bleu” Zimmerman and wife Melissa of Southlake; 3 grandchildren, Braylon, Brooklyn, and Roxy; 3 brothers, Donald Zimmerman and wife Sandy, Jerry Zimmerman and wife Barb, and Bart Hise; his sisters, Janet Thompson and husband Meryl, Sharon Patow, Cindy Mason, and Lisa Wood; sister-in-law, Sheryl Wright; extended family members and a host of friends.
