North Richland Hills...Roy Malcolm Blackwood, 83, a retired machinist with Bell Helicopter, went to be with our Lord Thursday, February 10, 2011 in Bedford.
Graveside service is 2 PM Saturday at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth. Reverend Lloyd McCutchen will officiate. Pallbearers are Jimmy Looney, Ricky Looney, Brian Moore, James Blackwood, Jr., Chris Blackwood, and Chase Ashworth.
Billy was born April 12, 1927 to Doc and Mary (Smith) Blackwood in Fort Worth. He married Bettie Forrester on February 12, 1999 in Newark.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Lee (North) Blackwood; his son, Lee Roy Blackwood; his sisters, Fannie Neal and Margie Lea; and his brother, Freeman Blackwood.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Bettie Blackwood of North Richland Hills; his sons, Willie M. Blackwood and wife Pam of Pottsboro, James Blackwood and wife Jo Ann of Decatur; his daughter, Mary J. Looney and husband Delmas of Alvord; his daughter in law, Terry Blackwood of Forney; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; his brothers, George Blackwood of Ft. Worth, Dub Blackwood of Haltom City and Mabern Blackwood of Mineral Wells; his sisters, Lillie Hilliard of Decatur, Lena Ary of Keller and Dora Young of Hurst; other relatives and a host of friends.
