Ruth Irene Whitaker

Bowie~ Ruth Irene Whitaker, 77, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 in Decatur.

Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2022 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie. Family will receive friends 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers include Eddie Biles, Terry Cantwell, Gene Brown, Allen Sanders, Cody Burdine and  Chris Ellis.

Rev. Ron Abbott and Rev. Chris Litt will officiate.

Ruth was born on June 23, 1944 to Douglas and Lona (Wainscott) Whitson in Chicago, Illinois. She worked as a bondsman and was a homemaker. Ruth was united in marriage to William “Bill” Paschal Whitaker on March 18, 2005 in Bowie, Texas. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Ruth loved arts, crafts, and cookbooks were one of her favorite things. She loved spending time with her family and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, step-mother, grand-stepmother, and friend who will be missed by all that knew and loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Kenneth Whitson.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 17 years, Bill Whitaker of Bowie; her daughter, Paula Gail Randall and husband, Jeff of Mississippi; her son, Carl DeWayne Barnett of Bridgeport; her daughter, Sherry Ward of Decatur; her daughter, Misty Edwards and husband, Jason of Chico; her grandchildren, Brandon, Kyle, Hailey, Tanner, Cody, Nick, Beth, Payton, Michael, and MaKayla; her great-grandchildren, Dakota, Layne, Elaina, Ella, Jenna, Noah, Sammy, Ryder, Blaine, Camden, Lily, River, Brilynn, Liam, and one on the way; her sister, Sandy Roberts of Pampa; her brother, Dee Whitson and wife Vicki of Snyder; her sister, Joyce Ann Sanders of Bowie; her step-son, John Whitaker and wife Eve of Colorado Springs; her step-son, Terry Don Whitaker and wife Mindy of Ranger; her step-grandchildren, Ryleigh Rae and Pebbles Whitaker; numerous extended family members and a host of friends.
