Sam Jefferson Black

Samuel “Sam” Jefferson Black Sr., 77, a construction foreman, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in Chico.

Funeral is 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at Morris Memorial United Methodist Church in Chico with burial in Chico Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Rev. Mike Miller will officiate. Pallbearers include The Masonic Lodge 508.

Sam was born on May 11,1940 to Clarence W. and Ruby Blanch (McIntire) Black in Bridgeport, Texas. He was united in marriage to Anetta Sue Lovejoy on December 15, 1960 in Chico. He was a member of the Morris Memorial United Methodist Church in Chico. Sam was also a member of the Chico Masonic Lodge 508 and Scottish Rite.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Sam Black Jr.; and his sister, Doris Hill.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Sue Black of Chico; his son, Russell Black and wife Peggy of Chico; his grandchildren, Brandie Williams and husband Brian, Braiden Black and wife Scout and Skylar Black; his great grandchildren, Samuel Williams and Lauren Williams; his brother, Richard Black and wife Debra of Decatur; and a host of friends.
