DECATUR -- Sam Dale Rector, Sr., 81, a retired vocational agriculture teacher, died Thursday, June 7, 2007 in Ft. Worth. Funeral: 2 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2007 at First Baptist Church, Decatur. Burial: Sanger Cemetery. Officiating: Rev. Craig Erb and Rev. Doug Vaughn Pallbearers: Byron Blalock, Johnny Blalock, Rex Rector, Brent Williams, Ron Mosley, Joel Gann Honorary Pallbearers: Raymond Gann, Ray Mosley, Charlie Burns. Mr. Rector was born May 19, 1926 in Sanger to Sam and Ruth Rector. He graduated from Sanger High School in 1944. He received his B.S. in Agricultural Education from Texas A&M University in 1948 then received his Masters degree from North Texas State University. He attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He taught vocational agriculture for 39 years. First he taught in Millsap and then Krum and for 23 years in Decatur. He also pastored at both Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and Bell Baptist Church in Decatur for a total of 32 years. Mr. Rector was Past Master of Millsap Masonic Lodge #1265 and a member of Decatur Masonic Lodge #447. He was a life member of the Texas State Teachers Association, a member of the Wise County Retired Teachers Association, an honorary member of the Texas Future Farmers of America and Texas Vocational Teachers Association and a proud member of the Texas A&M Association of Former Students Century Club. He enjoyed working with the Wise County Youth Fair where he served as dairy superintendent for 32 years. After his retirement he continued to enjoy his passion for farming and raising cattle. His nine grandchildren kept him busy as he enjoyed supporting them in their sporting events and school activities. He will always be remembered for his love of life and his faithful daily walk with the Lord. Mr. Rector was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ray Dean Rector. Survivors: His loving wife of 52 years, Bobbie Lee Lewter Rector, whom he married June 26, 1955; children, Dale Rector and wife, Mary Lynn of Crowley, Mark Rector and wife, Susan of Decatur, Lee Ann Arrington and husband, Mitch of Bridgeport, and Rhonda Enis and husband, Curtis of Alvord; grandchildren, Lacie and Ryan Rector, Taylor and Haley Rector, Lindsey, Emily and Blake Arrington, and Whitney and Logan Enis; brothers, Jack Rector of Cedar Rapids, IA and Bob Rector of Frisco; and sister, Pat Blalock of Duncanville.
