Sam Stailey

Rhome ~ Sam Stailey, 83, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, August 30, 2020 in Rhome.

Funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Keeter with burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery #2.  Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel - Boyd.

Rev. Dale Noska will officiate.   Pallbearers will include Matt McMillan, William McMillan, David Wollever, Emmalee, Ricky Calloway, Frankie Harvell and Fred Harvell.

Sam was born May 14, 1937 to Joe David and Ada (Stice) Stailey in Whitesboro, Texas.  He was united in marriage to Myrtle Lee Erzkus on January 17, 1961 in Abilene, Texas. He worked in and retired from construction as a master carpenter, and attended church at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Keeter. Sam was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Myrtle Lee Stailey; his grandson, Josh Smith; and his brother, Joe Stailey.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his 5 daughters, Robin McMillan and husband Matt of Rhome, Judy Stailey of Austin, Jamie Ingram and husband Gary of Rhome, JoAnn Willard of North Carolina, and Gay Lynn Willard of North Carolina; 4 grandchildren, Derek, Stephanie, Stephan, and William; 2 great-grandchildren, Emmalee and Katelynn; 1 sister, Eula Mae Stone and husband William of Abilene; several nieces, nephews, numerous extended family and a host of good friends.
