Fort Worth~ Sam H. Cook, 82, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, February 7, 2021 in Dallas.
Funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at The First Baptist Church in Paradise with burial in Cottondale Cemetery. Open Visitation will be held 5:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Bro. Ray Cook, Jr. will officiate. Pallbearers are to include Sha Clayton, Shawn Clayton, Blake Vinson, Trey Cook, Jacob Jennings, and Hal Gooch. Honorary Pallbearers are to include Bud Vinson, Danny Taylor, Sam Clayton, Clayton Taylor, Levi Clayton, and Dwayne Garrett.
Sam was born on September 28, 1938 to Marvin and Urvel (Adams) Cook in Decatur, Texas. His family relocated to Fort Worth, shortly after his birth. Sam graduated from Trimble Tech High School in 1956. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Linda Wood on January 5, 1956 in Marietta, Oklahoma. At the age of 17, he went to work as a printer for Millican Press. His hard work ethic and dedication to the business became clear as he became the owner and successfully ran the business with family and co-workers until his retirement in 1999. Sam will be remembered for his faith, his love of family, the kindness he shared, his sense of humor and contagious smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dorothy Wilson, his brothers, Ray Cook, Sr. and Bobby Cook, Sr.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years, Linda Cook of Fort Worth; his daughter, Melinda Henry of Paradise; his son, Sam Cook, Jr. and wife Patty of Bridgeport; his daughter, Cheryl Vinson and husband Bud of Fort Worth; his grandchildren, Shawn Clayton and wife Erin, Sha Clayton and Shyanne, DeAnn Taylor and husband Danny, Jacob Jennings and wife Jennifer, Katie Gooch and husband Hal, Trey Cook, Blake Vinson, Brittany Vinson, and Brianna Vinson; his great-grandchildren, Courtney, Clayton, Sam, Olivia, Amelia, Levi, Lexi, Karter, and Kinson; his great-great-grandchildren, Tatum and Taylor; his brother, Bill Cook and wife Carolyn of Cottondale; his sisters, Betty Bush of Boyd, and Lois Nevoit of Burleson; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members and a host of friends.
