Sammye Kaye (Osborne) Short

Alvord ~ Sammye Kaye Short, 77, went to meet her Savior April 25, 2021.

Memorial is 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the memorial.

Sammye was born February 9, 1944 to Sam and Edith (Harvey) Osborne in Pampa, Texas. She grew up in White Deer, Texas and attended White Deer High School. Sammye went to nursing school in Amarillo at St. Anthony Hospital, she was a nurse for 30 years in Amarillo and Decatur, retiring in 1994. She was united in marriage June 2, 1965 to Larry Short in her hometown of White Deer, Texas. Sammye was active with her children’s education and sporting events. She enjoyed traveling to Colorado on vacations, loved playing golf and played in many tournaments. Most of all she loved her kids and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters, Barbara Everson, Karen Osborne, and Kathy Cowen; and 1 granddaughter, Chelsea Forcey.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 56 years, Larry Short of Alvord; son, Chadd Short and wife Shawna of Denton; daughters, Wendy Mcilveene and husband Tim of Boonesville, and Stacy Short of Decatur; her sister, Jacque Haddock and husband Greg of Pampa; 6 grandchildren; 8 great- grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Memorial can be made in Sammye’s name to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice in Wise County.
