Saretha Annette Riley, age 53, of Adrian, Michigan, (formerly of Decatur, Texas), went to Heaven on Monday, February 24, 2025. She was born on May 24, 1971, in Landstuhl, Germany, to Charles Riley and Annette (Rosenburg) Riley.
Saretha was a graduate of Decatur High School and Hyles-Anderson College. She worked at First Baptist Church’s Daycare in Decatur, Texas; and Bethany Daycare in Adrian, Michigan; and taught at Manitou Road Baptist Academy in Manitou Beach, Michigan. For the last 23 years she was a beloved teacher and volleyball coach at Berean Baptist Academy in Adrian, Michigan. Saretha invested her life in many students throughout her teaching and coaching years. In addition to being a dedicated and loving daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend, Saretha also loved her Heavenly Father and dedicated her life to serve Him however He chose. She was a loyal member of Berean Baptist Church for 29 years, where she faithfully served in the nursery and teen ministries, and led the weekly ladies’ prayer time. She was a go-to babysitter and adopted aunt for countless families. She loved playing and watching sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, and her nieces’ and nephews’ sports teams. She also enjoyed traveling, going on missions’ trips, going to Disney World, and collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia.
Saretha is survived by her mother, Sandra Annette Riley of Decatur, her sister Monica and husband Johnny Slimp of Decatur, niece Cori and husband David Flores of Springtown, nephews James Slimp of Azle and Zachary and wife Mariah Tipton of Paradise, great nieces and nephews Tyler Fisher, Travis Slimp, Trent Fisher, Sara Slimp, Kaitlyn Spence, Jeremiah and Josiah Tipton, Adalynn Parizon, and Raegynn Tipton. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles H. Riley.
Visitation will be at the Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur on Friday, February 28th, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Saturday, March 1st, at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Doug Rogers and Pastor Matt Gage officiating. The burial will be at Bethel Cemetery. There will also be a Memorial Service on Saturday, March 8th, at Berean Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Faith Promise Missions Program of Berean Baptist Church at 751 W.
