Sharon Henrietta Brooks, 80, answered Heaven’s invitation to come Home at 1:24 am on Wednesday, June 5 2024.

Memorial Service is 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 5th, 2024 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Sharon was born May 16th, 1944 to Charles and Eloise (Hughes) Walton in Ft. Worth, Texas. She was married January 18th, 1963 to Jackie Morris Brooks in Wichita Falls, Texas. Sharon was a professional Barrel Racer for many years and a member of WPRA.

Sharon and Jack bought 20 acres in Wise County in 1980, then built a barn, fences, water wells and their home in 1982. They raised many horses, cattle, dogs and cats over the 60 years of their marriage.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jackie Brooks in 2023, and their son, Robert Kevin Brooks in 1996.

She is survived by her brother, Charles William Walton III and wife Peggy of North Richland Hills; her nephew, Alex Walton of Euless; Jack’s niece Paulette (Brooks) Watson of Sarasota Florida and extended family and a host of friends.

Sharon received excellent care and therapy from the staff at Bridgeport Medical Lodge during the past year starting with a broken leg in March 2023. She was able to return to her home in Decatur for 5 months. Other health issues resulted in her return to Bridgeport Medical Lodge.
