Sharon Hayden (Cunningham) Harvey

August 2, 1947 — August 18, 2014

Decatur ~ Sharon Hayden Harvey, 67, of Decatur went to be with her Lord Monday, August 18, 2014 in Decatur, Texas.

Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Decatur Church of Christ with a burial at 2:00 p.m. at Emerald Hills Memorial Park in Kennedale, Texas. Family will recieve friends 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Sharon was born August 2, 1947 to Guy and Julia (Semchena) Cunningham in Highland Park, Michigan. She married Victor Harvey on November 9, 1985 in North Richland Hills, Texas.  After the death of her mother in 1957 she moved to California.  After returning to Michigan for a short time she move to Puducah KY after the death of her father in 1963.  She married Joe Terry Hayden and her daughter, Ginger, was born in 1966.  She completed cosmotology school and worked as a hair stylist for many years.  She moved to Texas in 1981 and shortly afterwards was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.  In 1984 her daughter  was murdered in Ft. Worth and the killer was not caught and convicted until 2012.  In 1985 she married Victor Harvey in North Richland Hill, TX.  Together, they adopted son David Harvey in 1989.  She moved back to Michigan in 1997, to Peoria IL in 2008 and to Decatur TX in 2010.

Sharon was a faithful Christian and attended Decatur Church of Christ.  She fought a brave battle against MS and never let it define her.  Her motto, for live was to allow 10 minutes a day to feel sorry for your self and then move on.  She touched and inspired many lives with her spirit and determination.  She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

Left behind to cherish her memory is her husband of 28 years, Victor Harvey of Decatur; son, David Harvey and wife Bonnie of Decatur; and brother, Tom Cunningham of Detroit, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Ginger Hayden.
