Shirley Jane Donley

Shirley Jane Donley, 71, of Bowie went to be with her Lord Wednesday, January 15, 2025 in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with burial at Sweetwater Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Shirley was born November 12, 1953 to Benjamin Franklin, Sr. and Mattie Viola (Fennell) Hale. She was united in marriage June 1, 1973 to Harrol David Donley in Bridgeport, Texas. Shirley graduated Decatur High School and was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church. She retired from Wise Electric Coop after 20 years of bookkeeping and secretarial work. Shirley was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to many, all will miss her deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Mattie Hale; 3 brothers, Ben Hale, Jr., Johhny Hale, and Danny Hale; 1 sister, Faye Wilson; and beloved granddaughter, Maycie Denise South.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 51 years, David Donley of Bowie; her daughter, Heather South and husband Cody of Chico; 2 grandchildren, Mattie and Martie South of Chico; her favorite lap companion, Max; beloved sister-in-law, Lisa Hale, special niece, Pennye Shockey and husband Ronnie; nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and a host of friends.
