Shirley Sue Mann, 82, formerly of Bridgeport, went to be with the Lord, Friday, August 25, 2017 at her home.
Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport with burial in Cottondale Cemetery in Cottondale, Texas. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Rev. Sam Caldwell will officiate with Angie Beville Tyson to assist with the eulogy. Pallbearers are Jason Hester, Tim Crews, Durell Martin, Pace Copeland, Justin Janacek, Bryson Carter, and Ray Sullivan.
Shirley was born October 1, 1934 to Hillard Gandy and Bobby (Bridges) Harris in Cottondale. She was a retired registered nurse and served on the Junior Women's Club in Bridgeport where she was a past president. She lobbied with Ralph Nadar to get mandatory seat belts in cars and always stood up for children's rights for their safety and security.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother; Charlie Harris.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Susan Mann Hester and husband Larry, Sherry Mann Phillips and husband CD, and Sandi Mann George and husband Mike; her grandchildren; Jennifer Wiedemann, Jason Hester, Brindle Crews, Fatimat Martin, Pace Copeland, Kyle Copeland, Sandi Janacek, Bryson Carter, Adrian Sullivan, and Kendon Fair; 22 great grandchildren; her niece, Ceila Harris; her nephew Mike Harris, numerous extended family member and a host of friends.
