Haslet – Shirley Dean Whatley, 84, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, December 20, 2022.

Graveside service is 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Boyd Cemetery.

Fred Rainey will officiate.

Shirley was born October 3, 1938 to Hubert and Minnie (Nall) Brown in Rhome, Texas. She was united in marriage to Hershel (Tater) Whatley on November 5, 1954 in Bridgeport Texas. Shirley was very proud of her family and loved spending time with them. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Boyd, where she had many friends. Shirley was cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Hubert and Minnie Brown; and her husband of 54 years Hershel Whatley.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Shirley Ashley and husband Paul of Haslet; 5 grandchildren, Michelle Garrison of Grapevine, Misty Souimaniphanh of Boyd, Susan Young of San Antonio, David Ashley of Keller and Steven Ashley of Boyd; 6 great grandchildren, Elise and Caleb Garrison, Ethan and Claire Ashley and Austin and Colton Young; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
