Sidney Ray Swindle

Alvord ~ Sidney Ray Swindle, 97, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Decatur, Texas.

Funeral will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2021 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur with burial at Alvord Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Ken Harris and Billie Fitch will officiate.

Sidney was born January 8, 1924 to Kail Charles and Bertha Mae (McCarty) Swindle in Denison, Texas. He was united in marriage December 6, 1941 to Hazle Marie Reece in Durant, Oklahoma. Sidney was a retired contractor in residential construction. He was a member of Hilltop Assembly of God Church in Boyd, Texas. Sidney was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kail and Bertha Swindle.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Rita Ersch and husband Patrick of Alvord; his son, Stanley R. Swindle of Kerrville; 8 grandchildren, Greg Holt, Meggan Ferguson and husband Preston, MAJ. Camerand Ersch and wife Celia, SSGT. Schuyler Ersch and wife Sarah, Stephen R. Schmerbeck, Nancy Kevorkian, Cydney Tuten and husband James, and Natalie Wade and husband Mark; 16 great-great grandchildren; sister, Delores Stevens; numerous extended family and a host of friends.
