Silvestre Hernandez Sr.

Bridgeport ~ Silvestre Hernandez Sr., 65, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, went to be with our Lord Sunday, October 4, 2015 in Decatur.

Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Saint John’s Catholic Church in Bridgeport with burial in Thomas Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home followed by a rosary at 8:00 p.m. Friday at the family ranch at 170 CR 1301, Bridgeport.

Rev. Thomas Dsouza will officiate. Pallbearers include Cristian Hernandez, Nicholas Hernandez, Noah Hernandez, Nolan Hernandez, Victor Alvarez, Alberto Torres, Oscar Tovar, Juan Hernandez, and Fernando Cantu'.

Silvestre was born on December 30, 1949 to Marcos and Ramona (Torres) Hernandez in Jerez Zacatecas. He was united in marriage to Bertha Fernandez on April 26, 1970 in Jerez Zacatecas. Silvestre worked for Acme Brick.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Marcos and Ramona; and his sister, Juanita.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Bertha Hernandez of Bridgeport; his son, Silvestre Hernandez Jr. and Londi Martinez, Raymundo Hernandez and wife Donna; his daughters, Aurora Alvarez and husband Victor, Avelia Torres and husband Alberto, Cindy Tovar and husband Oscar; his grandchildren, Christian A. Hernandez, Nicholas Hernandez, Noah Hernandez, Nolan Hernandez, Nicole Hernandez, Victoria Alvarez, and Anessa Torres; his brothers and sisters, Emilio, Samuel, Rafaela, Cruz, Daniel, San Juana, Patrocinio, Maria De Jesus, Luciano, Nicolas, and Alicia; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members, and a host of friends.
