Chico ~ Steven Vernon Shurbet, 70, a retired Army Veteran, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, November 1, 2017 in Decatur.
Memorial is 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Wise County Park on Lake Bridgeport.
Larry Duffie will officiate.
Steven was born on January 2, 1947 to Austin and Leta (Trout) Shurbet in Montague County. He was united in marriage to Blanca Bartolome on October 28, 2002 in Bowie, Texas. He proudly served his country and retired from the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Tony Shurbet, and Clay Gene Shurbet; and his sister, Belinda Shurbert.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Blanca Shurbet of Chico; his son, Ethan Shurbet of Chico; his daughter, Stephanie McGarvey of Decatur; his grandchildren, Josephine McGarvey, Ava Walker, Johnathan Oshunkentan, and Ryan Oshunkentan; his sister, Tracy Duffie and husband Larry of Vernon; his nieces, Kasi Scoughton and Karli Mitchell; his nephew, Cody Mitchell; and his best friend, Scott Kestner and wife Misti of Decatur other family members and a host of friends.
