Susan Lucille (Pitts) Burkett

Boyd ~ Susan Burkett, 65, a retired cafeteria worker, went to be with our Lord Thursday, November 22, 2018, in Decatur.

Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at the Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Boyd with burial at Boyd Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Rev. Michael Feese will officiate. Pallbearers are Michael Niggemeyer, James “Beetle” Bailey, Greg Weatherly, Robert Adams, Dewey Portlock, David Benividas , and Willie Marks.

Susan was born April 23, 1953, to Raymond Lee and Charlene (Ferguson) Pitts in Decatur, Texas. She married Bob Bruce Burkett on March 27, 1975, in Boyd, Texas. They were together 35 years until his passing in 2010. Susan was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist and was a Troop Leader for the Boy Scouts of America.

She was preceded in death by her father and her husband.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are a son, Shawn Burkett of Boyd; her mother, Charlene Pitts of Boyd; her brother, Charles A. "Buddy" Pitts of Boyd; her sister-in-law, Jan Burkett of Boyd; her lifelong friend, David McClendon of Boyd; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
