Susan (Rader) Ray

April 5, 1955 — August 27, 2018

Runaway Bay ~ Susan Gail Ray, 63, a retired Country Club manager, went to be with our Lord Monday, August 27, 2018 in Dallas.

Life Celebration will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport.

Minister Olan Collins will officiate along with Todd Buckner.  Honorary Pallbearers include John Rader, John Bass, JJ Bass, Danny Bass, Ryan Bass, Darryl Ray, Shane Earwood, Todd Buckner and Doyle Bradley.

Susan was born on April 5, 1955 to Roscoe and Frances Joyce (McHenry) Rader Jr. in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a graduate of Wills High School in Smyrna, Georgia where she was recognized and received their Governor’s Honors. During that time, she was also a Worthy Advisor for the Smyrna Masonic International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. Susan had attended Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia and later went on to become a Certified Club Manager with CCMA.

She was united in marriage to Roland Roger Ray on August 16, 1996 in Waxahachie, TX. Susan was a member of the Bay Community Church and active member of the Ladies Golf Association in Runaway Bay.

Susan was very social and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Many of her friends are left with cherished memories of their time together. She had a creative flare for poetry, jewelry making, painting and flower arranging. Susan had a zest for life and it showed through her everyday life in her activities and her love for her family. She also had a passion for cooking and loved to travel.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Rader of Smyrna, Georgia.

She is remembered and loved by her husband, Roland Ray of Runaway Bay; her daughter Michelle Earwood and husband William of Temple, Georgia and Holly Buckner and husband Todd of Chico; her son, Major Darryl Ray (Air Force) of Edmond, Oklahoma; her granddaughters, Ellie Earwood, Emmaleigh Earwood, Kylie Buckner and Karah Buckner; her grandsons, Derek Nunez, Colby Nunez and Casey Ray; her father, Roscoe Rader Jr. of Smyrna, Georgia; her sister, Cathy Bass; her brother, John Rader; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Myra and Doyle Bradley; her nephews, John Bass, JJ Bass, Danny Bass, Ryan Bass, Jonathan Rader and Donovan Bradley; her nieces, Khrystle Rader and Bridget Bradley;  numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
