BOYD -- Syble June Splawn, 86, retired owner-operator of 9 To 9 Beauty Shop in Hurst, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008 in Boyd, Texas.
Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd. Interment: Boyd Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. The Reverend Dale Noska and the Reverend Sonny Smith to officiate. Pallbearers: Steve Cogdell, Kenneth Cogdell, David Jolly, Michael Jolly, Gary Splawn, Kevin Splawn, Jimmy Waters and Jeff White. Honorary Pallbearers: Jack Teague and David Moon.
Syble June was born June 6, 1922 to Joe and Stella Rose in Busey, Arkansas. She married Allen Splawn on July 19, 1974 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Syble was a member of the Pleasant Grove #2 Baptist Church near Keeter. She was preceded in death by her son, A.B. "Banny" Cogdell, Jr., her sister, Mary and her brother Joe.
Left to cherish her memory: Her husband of 34 years, Allen of Boyd; stepchildren, Sheila Jolly and husband Bobby of North Richland Hills, Clifford Splawn and wife Margaret of Bridgeport, Randy Splawn and wife Brenda of Boyd; grandsons, Steve Cogdell and wife, Rebecca, of Burleson, Phillip Cogdell of Mansfield; great grandson, Kenneth Cogdell of Burleson; numerous step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
