BRIDGEPORT---Tully J. (T.J.) Petty, 83, a truck driver and mechanic, went to be with our Lord Thursday, January 14, 2010 at his home in Bridgeport, Texas.
Graveside service is 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2010, at the Boyd Cemetery in Boyd. Family will receive friends Sunday, 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Barbara Sowell will officiate.
T.J. was born July 19, 1926 in Decatur, Texas, to Rufis and Dovie (Erwin) Petty. He was married to Deanna (Nolan) Petty. She preceded him in death on January 14, 2006.
T.J. served in the United States Army and was discharged in 1946 as a corporal. He was a member of the Masons, the Shriners, and the Church Of Christ in Boyd. He was a life time member and served over 35 years as an AA sponsor.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the AA Chapter in Decatur.
Left behind to cherish his memory are daughters; Lindy Petty of Bridgeport, Melissa Lamb and husband Troy of Bridgeport; sons, Jeff Petty and wife Sheira of Mansfield, Michael Petty of Chico; grandchildren; Misty, Jason, Jessy, Ashley, Nathan, Reid, Stormi, Megan; a great grandchild on the way; sisters, Otella Chappell of Azle, Ann Petty of Louisiana; bother, Jimmy Petty of Bridgeport; caregivers, Robin and Todd Minor of Lake Bridgeport; many nieces, nephews, and AA friends.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the AA Chapter in Decatur.
