Paradise: Thomas Edmond Whatley, Jr., 87, a retired insurance claims supervisor, went to be with our Lord, Sunday, November 6, 2011 in Paradise.
Funeral service is 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 9th at Newark Church of Christ with Mike Boaldin officiating. Interment: Cottondale Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Zack Whatley, Michael Whatley, Chris Wilson, Matt Taylor, Matt Marshall, and Derek Dobbs.
Thomas was born on October 8, 1924 in Haslett, Texas to Thomas Edmond and Addie (Hooten) Whatley, Sr. He was united in marriage to Dorothy McAnally on October 8, 1948. Thomas served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Newark Church of Christ.
Left behind to cherish his memory are wife, Dorothy Whatley of Paradise; son, Thomas Edmond Whatley, III of Denton; two daughters, Sherri Taylor and husband, David of Newark, Kim Spatz and husband, Steve of Paradise; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and sister, Wanda Perry of Boyd.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Mary Kitsy Whatley-Runyan.
