Thurman Lee Holt

Thurman Lee Holt, 75, of Georgetown, Texas passed away December, 24, 2016 at home surrounded by his family.

Funeral was held Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport, Texas with burial in East Bridgeport Cemetery.

He was born on October 9, 1941 to Carl and Natalie Holt in Bridgeport, Texas where he attended high school.  After high school he joined the US Air Force where he served 3 years in Spangdahlem Airbase in Germany, returning to Sheppard Airbase in Wichita Falls, Texas. Thurman married his high school sweetheart, Connie Lou Hudson, on March 21, 1964.  He attended Tarrant County Junior College, worked for Continental Airlines, was co-owner of Georgetown Tire Center before he changed careers and attended the police academy in Austin, TX.  Thurman became a bailiff for Williamson County Sheriff Department where he befriended many souls in need in the jail and court systems. He retired in 2006.  He was active in Sertoma Club of Georgetown, Austin Area Car Club and volunteering for Georgetown Parks and Recreation.

Thurman was preceded in death by his parents and baby brother, Doyle Wesley.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Holt; daughter, Kimra Nesbitt & husband Erik-Paul Nesbitt; son, Gregory Lee Holt and wife Amy Holt; and grandchildren, Bryce Nesbitt and Kelcie Nesbitt all of Georgetown, Texas.  His brother Theron Holt and wife Janie.  His sisters Frances Gentry and husband Willard, Norma Holt, Carol Richardson and Carla Wood and husband Bill all of Paradise, Texas.  His many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Thurman had a love for people and never met a stranger, only a new friend.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Georgetown, Texas.  He loved classic cars, especially his ’59 Chevy pickup, which was his pride and joy.  He was the kindest father and Papa anyone could ever have and left an imprint on all of our lives.
