Tim Walker Woodruff

Tim Woodruff, 66, of Decatur, died February 10, 2022, in Decatur.

Funeral service is Monday, February 14, at Community Church of Decatur, followed by burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur handled arrangements.

He was born September 8, 1955, in Denton to Willard Bennett Jr. and Mary Louise Gettys Woodruff. He married Joylynn Nobles on May 19, 1978, in Decatur. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1974 where he played football, basketball, and ran track. Upon graduation he began his college career at The University of Texas at Arlington and earned a Bachelors of Business Administration. He worked in banking from 1978-2001, including fourteen years at the First National Bank in Decatur. He earned a Masters degree in Christian Education at Dallas Theological Seminary in 2005 and spent the remaining years of his life spreading the good news of Jesus. He served his community by volunteering with the Decatur Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Wise County, American Heart Association, First United Methodist Church of Decatur, and CASA of Wise & Jack County.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Drew Glosson.

Tim is survived by his wife of 43 years; daughter Sharon Glosson and husband, Edwin, of San Antonio and son Chris Woodruff and wife, Tearney, of College Station; brothers Martin and wife, Jana, Mason and wife, Karen, all of Decatur; sisters, Nannette Williams and husband, Kevin, of Denton and Nola Cocanougher and husband, Daniel, of Lake Bridgeport, brother-in-law Robert Nobles and wife, Pat, of McKinney; five grandchildren; fourteen nephews and nieces; and a slew of great-nephews and nieces. Memorials may be made to Wise County Christian Counseling or Raquel’s Wings in lieu of flowers.
