Newark ~ T. J. Bennett, 84, a retired employee from General Motors went to be with our Lord, Friday, March 4, 2011 in Newark.
Graveside service is 2 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Restland Cemetery in Boswell, Oklahoma. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.
The Rev. Dale Randolph will officiate.
T.J. was born on June 27, 1926 to John and Vesta (Faulkner) Bennett in Bennington, Oklahoma. He graduated from Bennington High School and he married Mildred Buford on January 11, 1947 in Texarkana, Arkansas. T.J. proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army stationed in the Philippines and was an honor guard for General Douglas MacArthur. He retired in 1983 after 30 years of dedicated service to General Motors as a salvage repairman.
T.J. is preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Randy Bennett and Tommy Ray Bennett.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Mildred Bennett of Newark; his sons, Larry Bennett and wife Patricia of Denton, Steve Bennett of Newark; his brother, John Bennett and wife Betty of Bennington, OK; 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; other family members and a host of friends.
