Alvord ~ Tommie Ann Hodges, 94, a retired dairy farmer from Alvord, Texas went to be with her Lord Saturday, August 18, 2018 in Decatur, Texas.
Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Reverend Bill Cleveland will be officiating. Family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Truitt Hodges Jr., Matthew Todd Hodges, Carl Waymon Atkins, Aaron Cowan, Micah Cowan, Jaymz Hemenway, Jake Hodges, and Alex Hodges.
Tommie Ann was born January 22, 1924 to William Biston and Cora Bell (Riddle) Wooten in Electra, Texas. She graduated from Alvord High School in 1941 and married Thomas Hodges soon after on May 3, 1941 in Waurika, Oklahoma. They worked side by side as Dairy Farmers and in 1953 and 1954 were honored as Comeback Farmers of the Year by the United States Congress Department of Agriculture. They were married 61 years until Thomas's passing in 2001.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her son James Hodges and wife Michelle of Alvord; 2 daughters, La'Wayne Hauser and husband Karl of Fort Worth, and Margaret Gilbreath and husband Cleddy of Gainesville; 8 grandchildren, Truitt Gene Hodges, Jr. and wife Linda, Matthew Todd Hodges and wife Robin, Aaron Cowan and wife Kathy, Micah Cowan and wife Audrey, Christy Jo Patton and husband Danny, Carl Waymon Atkins and wife Sheila, Nicole Gilbreath, and Amber Hemenway and husband Brett; 25 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Truitt Gene Hodges, Sr.; daughter, Jo Evelyn Atkins; 5 brothers; and a sister.
