Decatur: Tommy H. Childers, 75, a mailman, went to be with the Lord, Friday, March 4, 2011 in Denton.

Private graveside service is 2 p.m. Sunday, March 6th at Oaklawn Cemetery with Pastor Charles Taylor officiating.

Tommy was born December 15, 1935 in Decatur to Eddie Cole and Loma (Lowance) Childers. He married Dorothy Gotcher, March 5, 1955.

Tommy was a rural carrier for the Decatur Post Office and retired after 20 years of service. He delivered mail to Anneville, Sand Hill, Deep Creek Bridge, Hilltop, Shorty's Stop and Smoky Ridge. Tommy was an old time cattleman who raised short cattle in tall grass.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife, Dorothy Childers; two sons, Dale R. Childers, Mike Childers and wife, Chari; sister, Cynthia Weaver; two granddaughters, Kristol Gardner and husband, Matt and Kendall Childers all of Decatur; and nephew, Mark Childers of Wichita Falls.
