Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jack McBride officiating. Interment will be in DFW National Cemetery following the service. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Jay Gibson, Rick Gibson, Clay Irby, Justin Irby, Travis Irby, and David Wooley.
Tom was born February 13, 1931 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to James Otis and Lucille Herring Irby. He married Vera Arliene Workman on February 20, 1988 in Daytona Beach, Florida. Tom had worked at Braniff Airlines for 30 years and Fedex for 7 years as an airline crew scheduler. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War; was a member of the River of Life Church in Bowie and was a Longhorn cattle rancher. Tom loved airplanes, animals and co-workers.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 20 years, Arliene Irby of Decatur; 4 sons, Clay Irby of Midland, Texas, Randy Irby of Springtown, Terry and Tommy Irby of Energy, Texas; 7 grandchildren, Justin, Steffanie, Kaly, Amber, Travis, Dan, Jonathan; 2 great grandchildren; cousin, John Irby and a host of lifetime friends.
