Decatur: Anthony "Tony" Veal, 74, went to be with our Lord, Friday, October 25, 2013 in Decatur.

Memorial service is 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 30th at the Montague County Cowboy Church with Rev. Joe Cabellero officiating.

Tony was born July 7, 1939, in Hutchinson, Kansas, an only child to Albert and Agatha (Reed) Veal. As a young child, Tony and his family lived in Oklahoma. Tony attended high school in Sulphur, Oklahoma, where he met his future wife, Joy. Tony played varsity football and also played in the marching band, making for a hectic schedule on Friday nights. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1960.

Tony worked for American Airlines for 38 years, beginning in 1965. He worked as a mechanic with varying duties in Dallas and Albuquerque, and then moved to Reno in 1999 as a crew chief, until his retirement in 2003. Tony remained active with the American retirement community, and had countless close friendships from his time at AA.

Tony had a lifelong passion for motorcycles, and began riding in motorcycle enduro races in the late 60's, for several years. Tony also had his own motorcycle repair shop in Hurst for a period of time, and loved working on bikes of all types.

Tony loved to fly, and had his own plane for several years, flying all around the country.

Tony moved back to Texas several years ago after living in Sparks, NV, and cherished the opportunity to reconnect with his family and all of his close friends from work and school.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Joy Veal of Decatur; daughter, Lori Mahler and husband Nick of Wylie; two sons, Craig Veal and wife Sheryl of Weaver, Alabama and Eric Veal and wife Amy of Emory, Texas; stepson, David Williams of Roseville, California; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and host of friends.
